A National Moment to Fight Cancer

Cancer is a problem — but it’s a fixable one.

With more investment and determined effort, we can gift millions more healthy years, more weddings, more birthdays, and more precious time with loved ones.

Now is the time to act. Decades of cancer research have brought us so far. In the 1970s, only 1 in 4 people survived cancer for 10 years or more. Today, that number has doubled. Since the mid-1980s, over a million lives have been saved. This progress is thanks to tireless researchers, medical professionals, and scientific breakthroughs.

Yet, cancer remains the defining health challenge of our time.

Nearly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime. Every family, every community is affected. And while we’ve made remarkable progress, we still lag behind other nations. The fight is far from over.

Campaign Against Cancer: A Defining Challenge

As our population grows and ages, the number of new cancer cases is rising. By 2040, annual cancer diagnoses in India are projected to rise by 25%, reaching nearly half a million cases each year.

But we are standing at the threshold of a golden age in cancer research.

Thanks to new tools like immunotherapy, genomics, proteomics, and AI-driven diagnostics, we can now achieve in hours what once took years. These advancements bring us closer than ever to revolutionizing cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Cancer breakthroughs don’t just save lives. They reduce pressure on families, hospitals, and the economy. Early diagnosis and precision treatment lead to better outcomes and reduced costs. For instance, treating breast cancer at stage 1 is a third the cost of treatment at stage 4 — and survival jumps from around 30% to over 95%.

Our Vision

There is a “CAN” in CANCER. We CAN, and we CAN do better.

We aim to reduce India’s cancer mortality rate by 10% by 2040 — saving 30,000 lives each year. Early detection, equitable treatment access, and next-gen research are key to this vision.

We want to:

  • Diagnose cancers earlier and more accurately.
  • Bring cutting-edge tests and treatments to patients faster.
  • Improve survival rates and quality of life for survivors.
  • Drive cost-effective care that supports both health systems and families.

A Call to Action: Together, We Can Turn the Tide

Let’s build a national movement. Let’s unite across government, research, medicine, education, charity, and community.

We can and must act now to prevent cancer deaths, support survivors, and create a future where Indian cancer outcomes are among the best in the world.

Our goal is longer, better lives for all those touched by cancer.

Together, let’s make that happen.
